GEOGRAPHY & GIS NEWS

Microsoft is trying hard to push Virtual Earth into your life. Their mapping software is big business now, with Google Maps & Google Earth along with Yahoo! Maps offering satellite images in their beta version. The competition heats up and if you can project (GIS Humor) a few years into the future, I think you'll find a world with interactive mapping programs standard on cell phones, cars, & mobile computers. They are there in small doses at the moment. But, imagine being able to whip out your cell phone and buy movie tickets, check your reservation at the restaurant, and see which route is back up with traffic all on one program, with say a mobile version of Google Maps.
