There stands over the city of Rid de Janeiro a statue of a 125 ft tall
Jesus Christ (Christ the Redeemer) on a peak about 2200 feet in elevation. The statue has become a symbol of Rio over the years and can be seen in any movie with a scene set in Rio or any postcard sent from there.
The site was constructed in the 1930's and was recently updated with an elevator and escalator installed for those that didn't want to hike straight up a mountain. Wimps!
